Mirroring recommendations
Mirroring Recommendations, reached from the dashboard, looks through your catalogue for products that look like copies of each other and offers each group as a ready made rule.
How groups are found
The app normalises each product title and groups products whose normalised titles match. In practice that means:
- Trailing bracketed text is stripped, repeatedly, so “Field Guide (2nd Ed) (AUS)” and “Field Guide” land together.
- Punctuation and capitalisation are ignored.
- Trailing region words are stripped, so “Field Guide EU” and “Field Guide” match. The words
recognised are the common region and market abbreviations, for example
aus,eu,uk,us,ca,nz,de,fr,intlandglobal.
A group needs at least two products to be offered. Products already used as a parent or a child in an existing rule are left out, and so are groups you have rejected before.
The page header says how many products were scanned. The scan reads the first 1000 products in your catalogue, and says so when it has stopped at that number.
Working through a group
Each group is a card listing its products with their images, IDs, prices and, for anything not active, their status.
- The star marks which product will be the parent. The shortest title is starred to begin with, which is usually the base listing. Click another star to change it.
- The cross drops a product from the group for this session, without hiding the group.
- Accept creates the rule: the starred product becomes the parent and everything left becomes a child. The confirmation banner links to the new rule and to the config it will use.
- Reject hides the group permanently. It comes back only if the products are renamed into a different group.
Accepting does not sync anything. The new rule starts with your store’s default config, so review the field list before the first sync, then press Sync Now on the rule when you are happy with it.
A product that is already a child of another rule is skipped when you accept, and the app tells you which ones it skipped and why.
