About Royalty Payouts Paladin
Royalty Payouts Paladin is a Shopify app for stores that owe someone a share of a sale: licensed goods, artist collaborations, designer collections, publishers paying authors and illustrators per copy sold.
You describe the deal once, as an agreement with one or more rules. A rule says which products it covers, what percentage it pays, whether that percentage applies to gross or net sales, and who the recipients are. From then on, every paid order adds rows to a royalty ledger, refunds reverse them, and at the end of each payout period the app assembles what is owed into batches that wait for you to approve them.
What it does
- Records royalties per order line. One entry per rule, per recipient, per line item, with the gross, the basis, the rate and the amount earned all stored on the row.
- Handles layered deals. Several rules can cover the same product at once, and each one earns independently.
- Reverses refunds. A refunded line writes a negative entry against the same rule, capped so a run of partial refunds can never reverse more than was earned.
- Tracks advances. Project Mode pays a reduced (or zero) rate until an advance is recouped, then switches to the full rate. Several rules can recoup one shared advance.
- Batches and waits. Nothing is sent until you approve a batch, and a line is only marked paid when PayPal confirms that item succeeded.
- Pays through your own PayPal. You enter your own PayPal credentials, so money moves from you to your creators and never through us.
- Reports. Per period statements, a ledger you can browse and export, scheduled emails, and an optional portal where creators can see their own earnings.
What it does not do
- It is not a payment gateway and never touches your buyers’ payments or your checkout.
- It does not hold your money. Payouts execute in your PayPal account, under PayPal’s terms.
- It does not give tax, legal or accounting advice, and it files nothing on your behalf.
- It does not decide what a creator is owed. Your rules do, and getting them right is your job.
