Complete sets: Bundles Monk docs

A complete set is a list of items with a reward attached. When a buyer’s cart holds every item, checkout takes the reward off their order.

Building a set

Sets are created on the Complete Sets page. Each one takes:

Name. The app calls this a name you will recognise the set by, but buyers read it too: the storefront card and the checkout discount line both say “Complete the name”.
Build the set from. A collection, where the members are the collection’s active products and the set grows when you add a product to that collection, or Products I pick, a fixed list you choose here.
Reward. Percentage off, Fixed amount off, or Use store default.
Count out-of-stock items as collected. On by default. See below.
Add all to cart re-adds items the buyer already has. Off by default, so the storefront button adds only the missing items.

Members and items

A member is a product in the set. An item is what the buyer has to collect. They are the same thing until you expand a product’s variants.

In the items list, any member with more than one variant offers a Count as choice:

One item (any variant): the member is one item, and any variant of it satisfies the set.
Each variant separately: each variant you tick becomes an item of its own, and only that exact variant satisfies it. Variants you do not tick are not part of the set at all.

So a nine-product set with one product expanded into four variants is twelve items. Everything the buyer sees counts items, not members.

What counts as complete

A set is complete when every item is in the cart. Presence is all that is checked:

Quantities do not matter. One of each item is enough.
A set with no items is never complete.
A set is never discounted when the cart holds none of its members, even if leniency (below) would otherwise make it “complete”.

Out-of-stock leniency

Count out-of-stock items as collected decides what happens to an item you cannot currently stock.

On (the badge on the list page reads “Lenient”): an item that is out of stock everywhere counts as already collected, so buyers can still complete the set while you restock.
Off (the badge reads “Strict”): every item has to be in the cart, sold out or not.

Stock status is a snapshot taken the last time the set configuration was compiled for checkout, not a live reading. A product that sells out after that compile still counts as purchasable until the next one, and the other way round.

Keeping checkout in step

Checkout does not read your sets directly. It reads a compiled configuration that the app writes, which is what keeps the discount fast enough to run on every cart change.

That configuration is rewritten immediately whenever you save or delete a set in the app. It is not rewritten when something changes outside the app, so if you add a product to a collection a set is built from, open that set in Bundles Monk and save it to push the change through.

If the rewrite fails or has something to report, the app tells you on the Complete Sets page rather than failing quietly.

Several sets at once

If two sets complete in the same cart, Shopify applies whichever candidate is worth more to the buyer and drops the other. Sets never stack with each other. Pair bundles are separate and are not affected by this.

Deleting a set

Deleting a set stops its discount straight away. The products themselves are untouched.
